Halloween Room Decorating Contest

Are you a fan of the horror genre?  Do you have a knack for decorating and a great attention to detail?  This will be the event for you!

We are looking for Free Company rooms to be decorated for the spooky season - ghosts, ghouls, monsters, and more!  These rooms can be submitted into either one or both of the following:

• Our famous Haunted Room Tour During our Halloween Party
• Our Halloween Room Decoration Contest

Mad Scientist’s Laboratory? Morgue? Haunted House? Crime scene? You decide! Perhaps you could recreate your favorite movie scene! The options are endless and creepy, mysterious, and spooky are the way to go!

CONTEST DEADLINES FOR SUBMISSION:  

• Wednesday, October 16, 11:59 PM (EST) (to be part of the tour); and,
• Wednesday, October 30, 11:59 PM (EST) (for the contest).

HOW TO ENTER CONTEST: Please DM Istari Xiomar on Discord with:

• In-Game name of your character
• FC Room Number

If you want to enter both the tour and contest, please submit your room to Istari by October 16th, 2024.

JUDGING: Panel of 3 judges to be hired.

CRITERIA:  Judging will be based on the three following criteria:

• General/Overall (most housing contests use only this one)
  • How well does the room fit together overall as a whole?
    • Ambience
    • Choice of Colours/Dyes
    • Choice of Music
  • In essence, this one is “If you had to give only one score for this room, what would it be?”

• Creativity
  • Pretty much the same as “originality” and “distinctiveness” (these were used in SE’s housing contest in 2018, evaluated by the FF14 dev/op teams)
  • For our contest, creativity = originality = distinctiveness.

• How Well The Room fits Halloween theme
  • “Spookiness” is subjective!  It doesn’t have to be scary per se!
  • Last year, first place went to a room with a witch’s cauldron with a fitting ambience.
  • Second place went to a darkened maze made of Verdant partitions that you could get lost in.
  • Yet, third place was a dance club with Halloween decorations!  But there was  a crystal ball with a floating, disembodied head inside!

PRIZES

• 1st place: 5,000,000 gil
• 2nd place: 2,500,000 gil
• 3rd 1,000,000 gil
• All other participants: 100k gil each!
