Once a day, take a look around yourself, wherever you are, and draw something that you see. Look out your window! Step out your door! Look in that cabinet or drawer you haven't opened in months/years! Find something that piques your interest and sketch it!
This also goes for in-game - maybe there is something you pass in your travels that you never really stopped to look at before. Sit down and do a little sketch of it to share with others!
The goal of this event isn't to make anything mind-blowing or spectacular - we all live busy lives and tunnel vision into the flow of the world. Sometimes, it's nice to stop and look around at what's right in front of us. Maybe you'll find inspiration where you weren't looking before! There are no prompts for this event, the only prompt is: YOU!
Be creative! Since this is a sketch event, you don't have to share a finished work, just sketch the basic concept of what you're trying to draw and share it! Use whatever medium works best for you, whether it's pencil, charcoal, pen - whatever! The idea is to not spend too much time on it and not focus on making it perfect, just capturing what your eyes are beholding. You can also join the event using digital media as well!
If you decide later to finish the sketch into a full blown art piece, that's awesome and we'd love to see it too! There's absolutely no pressure - just have fun!
The deadline is whatever you finish in a day. If you don't feel inspired or can't find anything to draw, don't fret! Just celebrate with the others and try again the next day! We're all here to encourage each other through this and help build up our inspirations together. Support your fellow artists!
To submit your sketches, simply post them in the "Personal Art" channel of the Free Company Discord with a description of your piece so we can share in your discoveries! You can also post it on social media, of course! Just use the hashtag "#Sketchtember".
Lastly, this isn't a contest. There are no prizes other than the joy of finding new things to inspire you! Just have fun! We look forward to seeing what is discovered in your real and in-game lives!
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to use your body to win a prize? This might be the event for you! On Saturday, September 26th at 6:00pm EST, we are inviting you to participate in a brand-new Free Company event that will test your aiming skills - and most likely be filled with laughter and hilarity as you plummet to your doom!
This event will take place atop a high, high cliff. At the base of the cliff there will be waymarks positioned in various designs with the purpose of acting like a “dartboard.” The goal of this event is to jump from the cliff and try to land on a waymark to earn points! Seems easy enough, right? The challenge with this event is that the jumping-point is extremely high, so aiming correctly is imperative!
This event will have five total rounds and the Waymarks will be shuffled/moved around each round, making it trickier for participants to memorize their trajectory. If you don’t land on a Waymark exactly, don’t fret! Points are also awarded based on how close you are!
Red Waymarks - A & 1 (Bullseye): 30 Points
Green Waymarks - B & 2: 20 Points
Blue Waymarks - C & 3: 20 Points
Purple Waymarks - D & 4: 50 Points**
Participants who miss a Waymark will receive 50% of the point value of the Waymark they land closest to. For example, if a participant misses the "Bullseye," but lands closer to the "Bullseye" than any other Waymark, they will receive 15 points instead of 30.
**Purple Waymarks will not exist in every round and will generally be a little harder to reach. If a participant misses the Purple Waymark, they will not receive the 50% of the point value as with other misses. Instead, they will receive 50% of the Point Value of the next closest Waymark.
As you can probably guess, this will be a challenging event, but it will be extremely fun! The person who has the most amount of points at the conclusion of the 5 round will be declared the winner!
NOTE: There may be a twist in one of the rounds. Please look forward to it. Please have Heavensward zones unlocked to participate.
It takes a lot of work (and pure enjoyment) for our Free Company to come up with events and prizes that help bring our community closer together. Once a year, we host a Free Company Auction to help replenish the Gil coffers that supply event prizes and services to our members, such as The Black Waltz Member Grant. All of the auction items are graciously donated by other Free Company members knowing that the proceeds are going to a good cause.
On Wednesday, September 30th, 2020 at 8:00pm EST, we will be having our next Free Company Auction in the basement auditorium! This is a great way for you to spend Gil to help replenish our Free Company bank! All starting prices for the items are well-researched to ensure that they start at prices far below the Marketboard averages across the Data Centre. In most cases, items will start at 50 - 75% lower than the Marketboard - even more if the item is extremely rare!
Please join us in celebrating our wonderful community and help support each other and our amazing Free Company!
If you'd like to donate rare items to the cause, please reach out to Istari to have the item added to the auction list!
Beginning on Sunday, May 3 and continuing every other Sunday from then on, we will be hosting a biweekly event where our Free Company Members can get to know each others' sense of humour and laugh with each other. During these events, the event coordinator will provide games from the "Jackbox Party Pack" series for participants to join and have fun. These games range from a variety of types including Trivia. This event started as an idea from one of our members, Jak! Now it is finally coming into fruition!
Note: We want you to be yourself! As such, some peoples' sense of humour may be more on the adult side, so we will be stamping this event with an 18+ disclaimer. However, if you are participating it should be noted dark humour / taboo subjects are not allowed in this event and the guidelines of Respect outlined in our Free Company Charter must be followed.
This event is meant to help get to know our community on a more humourous and fun level. To participate, you will need access to Discord (to view the game hosts' stream and participate), and an additional device with an internet browser available on it. A tablet, smartphone, computer, or PS4 browser all work for this!
How does it work?
After a game is chosen, the Game Host will Stream the game from their computer. Participants will then view the stream, and, using the website and code provided by the game, they will access their internet browsers and connect to the game. Whichever devices' browser is used to connect to the game will become the participant's buzzer / answer input device / score sheet.
Rules for each game are broadcast during the beginning of each game. Bringing wine, alcohol, or snacks is encourage! Please be ready to laugh!
