The Amazing Race: Eorzea

Go, go, go!

Welcome to The Amazing Race - be sure to bring your thinking cap!

Participants should meet in the <<Waltz>> Free Company basement prior to the event start time so that the teams can be added to the game roster. Note: It is highly encouraged that veteran players team up with newer players who may not be as familiar with locations across Eorzea.

At 6:00pm EST on Saturday, March 27th, 2021, teams of two players will use their combined intellect to decipher clues that will lead them on an adventure across Eorzea. Throughout their journey they will meet volunteers for the event that will provide them with the next clue, as well as an item to prove that they are on track.

Clues can vary from simple riddles all the way up to rhymes, word ciphers, and puzzles. It is key that  both teammates work together to break down the clues to find the next location.  Here is an example of a clue that is both a riddle and a rhyme:

"On point of bony spine I stand

Overlooking a floating land.

A broken castle lies here cracked and worn,

Where some might argue a Scholar born."

The above clue is describing the skeletal remains of a dragon that overlooks both The Floating City of Nym, and Wanderer's Palace. In this situation, the volunteer would be standing on the top of the skeletal spine of the dragon at the far side of Upper La Noscea.

General Rules

  1. Teams must be made up of no more than two individuals. In the event that an odd number of people are interested in participating, the last person remaining that is looking for a team will be  added to a random team by the event coordinator.
  2. The locations of the clues will be describing areas throughout Eorzea and Heavensward; Stormblood and Shadowbringers areas will not be included.
  3. The volunteers helping with the event will remain confidential for obvious reasons. Each volunteer will not know who the other volunteers are, nor will they know any other volunteer's item or clue.
  4. Each volunteer will have a unique item to give to each team that discovers their location and initiates a /trade. Only one team member needs to receive the item, but both team members must be present when the trade occurs. Note: The same team member should be responsible for all trades so that when they reach the finish line, it's easier to trade all the items to the final volunteer.
  5. Asking for help from other players in the game is allowed; however, if a player asks a volunteer unknowingly, the volunteer will purposely provide false information, so do so at risk. Providing help to another team is allowed, but this may not be wise as it will help them catch up.
  6. Once a team has received a clue and item from a volunteer, they can use any tactics they want to sway another team off the track.
  7. In the event that multiple teams decipher a clue and reach the same volunteer, the first team to initiate a /trade will be the first to receive the item and next clue from the volunteer. If both teammates are not present when the /trade is initiated, the volunteer will cancel the trade. Trade spamming until a team's partner arrives will result in a 5-minute penalty on receiving the next clue.
  8. An event-wide Linkshell will be created for the event that all participants will want to be a part of for announcements and updates as the race progresses. It is encouraged that each team party-up so they can communicate privately. Additionally, several rooms will be added to the <<Waltz>> Discord server is teams want to use voice chat instead.
  9. When a team reaches the final volunteer, the person holding all the items must initiate a trade with the volunteer and provide them with all the items they collected along the way. Once this is complete, that team will be designated the winner.
  10. This event will likely run from 2 - 3 hours, so players should come with the intent to finish. Leaving in the middle of the game will leave a teammate without a partner, and that's not fun.
  11. Once the top three teams have placed, the game will be announced as over. If 3 hours pass and no team has reached the finish line, the game will end and the winners will be decided by whoever has made it the furthest and collected the most items.
  12. If there are any questions about this game, please reach out to Istari Xiomar.

MAGNus' Album Adventure

Music is a part of our lives every day, just like Final Fantasy for most of us. This month-long event will allow us to celebrate our favourite bands by re-creating our favourite albums from them!

Submissions for entries closes at midnight on Wednesday, March 31st, 2021! A special channel will be created in Discord for participants to post their creations and the winners will be announced the following Monday during the weekly FC Lottery!

 General Rules

  1. Participants may only submit one album cover; however, if they create a second one the first one can be deleted. When submissions close, each member should only have one submission in the Discord channel otherwise none will be counted.
  2. Use of third-party programs like Reshade and CMT are forbidden since they are not available to all players. This includes mods! The example created above was done with Paint and the /gpose features in game.
  3. Multiple players can create an album cover together and the prizes will be split accordingly.

Judges will award points to each submission based on two categories:

  • Likeness to Original: 1 - 10 Points

THe "WALTZBOX" party

Viewer Discretion is Advised...

Beginning on Sunday, May 3 and continuing every other Sunday from then on, we will be hosting a biweekly event where our Free Company Members can get to know each others' sense of humour and laugh with each other. During these events, the event coordinator will provide games from the "Jackbox Party Pack" series for participants to join and have fun. These games range from a variety of types including Trivia. This event started as an idea from one of our members, Jak! Now it is finally coming into fruition!

Note: We want you to be yourself! As such, some peoples' sense of humour may be more on the adult side, so we will be stamping this event with an 18+ disclaimer. However, if you are participating it should be noted dark humour / taboo subjects are not allowed in this event and the guidelines of Respect outlined in our Free Company Charter must be followed.

This event is meant to help get to know our community on a more humourous and fun level. To participate, you will need access to Discord (to view the game hosts' stream and participate), and an additional device with an internet browser available on it. A tablet, smartphone, computer, or PS4 browser all work for this!

How does it work?

After a game is chosen, the Game Host will Stream the game from their computer. Participants will then view the stream, and, using the website and code provided by the game, they will access their internet browsers and connect to the game. Whichever devices' browser is used to connect to the game will become the participant's buzzer / answer input device / score sheet.

Rules for each game are broadcast during the beginning of each game. Bringing wine, alcohol, or snacks is encourage! Please be ready to laugh!
