Video Game Trivia

You are invited to participate in our January FC Event: Video Game Trivia Night, back by popular demand!

When: Friday, January 24, 2020

Questions will be separated into three categories: Easy, Medium, and Hard. Each level of question will be worth a separate set of points:

Easy = 3 Points
Medium = 6 Points
Hard = 9 Points

To facilitate this event and to avoid clutter in Free Company Chat, a Linkshell will be created for participants where questions will be answered. Each question will be given by voice in our Discord channel, but answers MUST be provided in the Linkshell created for the event. This avoids several people talking over each other and also provides a time stamp for answers. The first person to correctly answer a question (on the facilitator's screen) will be awarded the point value for that question.

At the end of the event, the scores will be tallied and the person who has the highest amount of points will be declared the first place winner.

Sample question:

“This Final Fantasy enemy is known throughout the series for having Bad Breath.”

A: Marbol/Marboro

Prizes:

1st Place: 3,000,000 gil
2nd Place: 1,500,000 gil
3rd Place: 1,000,000 gil

Good luck to everyone! If you have any questions, please reach out to Istari.

Video Game glamour contest

"Hey, Listen!"

This month's big Free Company contest is a Themed Glamour Contest! If you have an eye for detail and a knack for showing yourself off, this is the contest for you!

The Theme: Favourite Video Game Character

Oh yes, you get to create and build a glamour to look like your favourite character from ANY video game!

Contest Date: Friday, January 31, 2010 @ 9:00pm EST

PRIZES

1st Place: 3,000,000 Gil + Mogstation Mount
2nd Place: 1,500,000 Gil + Mogstation Minion
3rd Place: 1,000,000 Gil + In-Game Minion

All Participants: 100,000 gil

Points will be awarded on a scale of 1 - 10 from each judge, per contestant. The points from each judge will then be added and the person with the highest score at the end of the contest will be the winner. Judges will be looking for the following:

1) ACCURACY OF GLAMOUR

  • Does the glamour look like the character you're trying to portray?

2) PERFORMANCE

  • Did the participant put on a "show" with their character? Emotes? Minions? Speech?

3) RECOGNITION

  • Were the judges able to recognize your glamour without being told? Note: Telling judges ahead of the contest what your glamour is will result is 0 points for this section; however, at the end of your performance you will have to state your glamour when the Emcee  asks you to share!

RULES

  1. Groups/Duos ARE allowed. If you want to join up with a friend and split the winnings, please do! If this is what you decide, please ensure the group/duo makes sense (for example, both characters are from the same game). Note: Points will be awarded the same to solo entries as group entries to ensure fairness. If a duo places in the top 3, the Mogstation reward(s) will change to gil.
  2. Using pre-made gear sets from FFXIV to glamour as your favourite Final Fantasy character are NOT allowed (For example, using the Veteran Reward Strife Set to glamour as Cloud Strife, or using level 50 artifact gear).
  3. Gender and Race do not matter, so you can cosplay as your favourite character without changing your current race or gender. Note: Hairstyles DO matter, so please try and choose an appropriate hairstyle.
  4. Using emotes that your character would use in their game are definitely recommended - anything that makes your character more believable will work in your favour.

If you wish to partake in this event, reach out to Istari in-game. This event is open to all members of The Black Waltz Free Company.
