Black waltz sightseeing log

The Black Waltz Free Company is happy to announce The Black Waltz Sightseeing Log! This event will operate much like the current in-game sightseeing logs; however, weather conditions and time-of-day will not be included in the event to make it much more attainable.

How does this work?

On Friday, December 13, 2019 a series of clues will be released in Discord that were found in an "adventurer’s journal" describing specific places throughout Final Fantasy XIV. Participants for this event must decipher the clues and find the locations described and snap a screenshot of the area that captures the scene as closely as possible to what the adventurer has described. 100% accuracy is not required; however, the closer you are to the original image taken by the adventurer the better.

Here is an example:

“Adventurer’s Journal, Page 26: ‘Tired, weak, and weary after traveling many weeks, I stumbled up a hill to see the faint glow of an Aetheryte Crystal in the distance. Just as I thought my tired legs could carry me no longer, I could see an Inn to my left, with the sound of fellow adventurers sharing tales of their journeys with each other. I knew that, even for a brief time, I could call this massive, forest city my home.”

Do you have any idea what the adventurer is describing?

If you thought of the entrance to the main city of Gridania, you are correct!

On Friday, December 27, 2019, Sightseeing Log submissions will no longer be accepted. This gives all participants two weeks to complete their logs! Screenshots must be sent privately to Istari through Discord to maintain fairness between participants!

All of the adventurer's journal entries are from locations within the main continent of Eorzea and may include areas up to the end of the Heavensward expansion. This means that the logs could also include locations inside dungeons from the start of Final Fantasy 14 to the end of the Heavensward Main Story.

Each correctly submitted entry will earn the participant 50 points. The person who has the most correct entries will win the event!

**NOTE: If more than one person correctly submits all entries, their images will be compared with the original image of the adventurer’s scene and the person whose screenshot more closely resembles the scene will be determined the winner for that entry.

1st Place Prize: 2,500,000 gil
2nd Place Prize: 1,000,000 gil
3rd Place Prize: 500,000 gil

Happy exploring!

The Black Waltz Auction

The purpose of the auction is to raise the Free Company's coffers for various occasions and activities and will be initial funding tool for the upcoming The Black Waltz Member Emergency Bank (more details to come at the Town Hall).

The most important reason of this event is to bring everyone together to have loads of fun, and to pit you all against each other! “Gils” the game and “Auction” is the name. Let us all come together to battle our pockets against one another in this fight of the most wanted, and loved items of Eorzea/Norvrandt!  We have taken member feedback from the last Auction and have created "bidding rules" to govern how much a person can bid at once - this will allow many people to participate.

Date: December 20, 2019

Time: 8PM EST

Where: The FC Basement

Attire: Dress as you will, but make sure the pockets match the outfit!

  1. In order to participate, you must be in the Free Company’s basement. Otherwise, other forms of communication during the auction such as: Discord, in-game, mail, etc.will NOT be counted towards your bid.
  2. You can have someone act as your substitute if you are unable to make it. There is no limit to how many you can have, as long as they abide by the rules of the auction.

  1. If the starting bid is less-than 10,000 gil, the max amount you may bid at a time is 10,000 gil.
  2. If the starting bid is between 10,000 and 100,000 gil, the max you may bid at a time is 20,000 gil.
  3. If the starting bid is between 100,000 and 1,000,000 gil, the max you may bid at a time is 100,000 gil.
  4. If the starting bid is greater-than 1,000,000 gil, there is no limit to how much you may bid.
  5. An item may have a time limit imposed on the bid for it to prevent prolonged bidding. If there is a time limit on a bid, it will be communicated prior to the item going up for auction. If the timer expires and there are still bids coming in for the item, the last bid accepted prior to the timer expiring will be deemed the winner.
  6. Only the Auctioneer may break the limit when it comes to bids, if necessary.

  • Per instructions, in order to place a bid you need to “/yell” with your prospective bidding number. If you “/shout”, “/tell” or “/fc” me during the auction, I will not acknowledge your bids. Only “/yell” with your bidding number.
  • Please do not bring up the price of the Market Board. At the end of the auction, things might have gone over or under the Market Board price. This happens during real auctions as well. Do not ruin the fun.
  • Out of respect for the “Fair Trade," all starting bid prices are written down one hour before the event. We want you all to have a fair chance at the auction, so items are marked down drastically from the Market Board price (about 75% - 90%) or even lower. For instance, the average cost of the Night Pegasus Whistle is approximately 25,000,000 gil. Due to the high demand for the item, we will place the starting bid at 500,000 gil, or lower (depending on MB prices an hour before the auction begins). We want everyone to have a fair chance at the items, not the other way around.
  • There is no layaway or holding of the item. You must pay at the time of the bid or forfeit the claim of the item. If you can not pay, the item will go to the person who placed the bid before you.

If you have any items you wish to donate, or if you wish to be a part of the auction team, please reach out to Sunati Duval

  • If you wish to get a glimpse of some of the items we have up for auction, please take a look:

Only members of The Black Waltz may place bids in the auction. Anyone else who wishes to participate must be approved before the auction takes place
